Remember when Babybird told you that “you’re gorgeous”? Well you are. Which is why you’ll want to map your real face onto your virtual pro.

Prerequisites:

The first thing the app will ask you to do is to download unity player, so you might as well get that out of the way before you start. Download it here, run the installer then restart your browser. You can also download the Game Face plugin here and run that now too to save time later, again, restart your browser afterwards. You’ll ALSO need the latest Flash player. Phew.

THEN, make sure you’ve got two photos of yourself, taken using the following guidelines:

The photos need to be either a .JPG or a .PNG, a maximum of 4096×4096 (although 1024×768 is recommended) and no lager than 10MB. You don’t HAVE to have the side on photo, but it will improve the result if you have one.

With that all out of the way, head over to the Game Face part of the EA Sports football site and log in (you’ll need to have completed this step first).

Select your gender and sport (this doesn’t affect anything other than how your avatar appears on the website) then select generate photo at the bottom. You’ll be prompted to download the new Game Face plugin if you didn’t run it before.

Pass through the welcome and tutorial tabs and upload your front on photo. Click next and use the tools on the right to flip/rotate your face within the template until you’re happy. Make sure you have “show template” ticked. Next you can adjust the saturation/colours of the photo to suit your skin tone.

Moving on a step, you’ll see an  overview of your edited photo, with green crosses over it. Each cross relates to a section of your face, if you hover over it, it will tell you which one. Move the crosses into place, for example move the one labelled “right mouth” to the right hand corner of your mouth.

Once they are all in place, click next and you’ll be offered the chance to upload a side view. It’s not 100% necessary, but will result in a better render. After your selection, click “generate my Game Face” and let the app work it’s magic.

With your face generated you can now move through the hair, eyes and face tabs, tuning your facial shape, eye colour and haircut to suit. Be sure to click save at the bottom after any changes.

Lastly, you need to head to the game itself to download your Game Face. Head to the edit pro part of pro clubs, use RT/R2 to get to the Appearance tab. Select “Download and apply Game Face”. Wait a few moments as it’s pulled from the server and applied to your pro, then you’ll be ready to show off you sexy mustache to the whole FIFA community.
